In 2019, I bought a stock of the Suzuki DR650 in Medellín, Colombia. A month later, I crashed it, broke my hand and knee, and decided to rebuild it, modding it, upgrading it, and fixing every flaw the bike had from the factory. The result is this, the Erebus Project DR650, the best in the world that took me 27,000km Solo down South America to the end of the world, Ushuaia, Argentina.
This bike was more than a project; it became a whole thing. In a country where the DR650 is an icon, it was divisive, but over time, the whole city came to recognize it. This bike got more attention than any bike I have ever owned; it made people excited at lights, and police stopped us just to look at it. It was built for a trip, but it stayed five years as a daily driver, going to the shops, going on dates, meeting friends, hanging out, weekend rips through Santa Fe, and Bunuellos at Santa Elena. Nights at Rufina, Ripping Las Palmas with heated grips, My best friends, smiling from ear to ear and falling in love.... this bike did it all, so many people have memories atached to this bike.... every time i hear that single stroke thump its a reminder. It's an icon.
In total, the DR650 build removed over 20kg of stock weight, over 50 modifications were made to the stock bike with three goals in mind: make it perform better, make it more comfortable, and make it look amazing. Everyone would do it differently, but for me, this was and always will be the perfect bike I have ever owned at the perfect moment.
