The basic principle of an IR sensor is that when the IR led emits light, it reflects from the surface of an object and is received by the Photodiode.
In this circuit IC LM 358 acts as a voltage comparator

1.IR LED
2. Photodiode
3. IC LM358.
4.LED
5. 10k Preset.
6. 10k Resistor
7.150 Ω Resistor.
8. 330Ω Resistor.
9. Jumper Wires.
10.9V battery.
11. Breadboard.
