Abstract: The use of transgenic animals is a major resource for molecular biological and medical research. Genetically modified animals are produced using various methods and protocols. One new and promising method is the use of viral constructs to alter cell fates in both developing and adult animals, including humans. These technologies can help treat a wide range of diseases, but only if oversight is provided and the rules of nature, ethics, and safety are observed.
