traceroute command is very helpful when you need to check the connectivity between your local host to your Server. The purpose can be achieved with the help of ping command but traceroute command will provide much more information than ping command.
Traceroute command will provide how many number of hops are there which was used by your packets to go from your local host to remote server.
It also provides time travel, IP address of each routers/hops and other information as well..
Next time, when you need to check any any issue related to your network, traceroute command is the best option to opt.
SYNTAX: traceroute Domain_Name
EG:- $traceroute google.com
Whenever you have any doubt regarding any command, always prefer man page of that command. You all need to do
$man ping
