The high concentration of carbon in the forest generates covetousness in the territories and commercial speculation: companies seek out indigenous peoples and traditional communities proposing partnerships for carbon projects. But it is necessary to have a lot of calm, responsibility, and information before deciding to enter into a project. Indigenous peoples, riverine communities, extractivists, and quilombola communities have their lives connected to the forest and conserve it because their ways of life depend on it. A carbon project has a long development cycle: it can last decades and have many impacts. The third episode of the series "Carbon: what you need to know" discusses this topic further. Standing forest, attentive and strong community.
