Is your urine color normal?
One of my patients' urine is colorless like water. They ask, "Is my kidneys disease, or is it because I'm drinking too much water?" The most important information your urine can give you is your fluid intake. The more water you drink, the lighter the color of your urine. This isn't true at all, but those who force themselves to drink 2-3 liters a day often have urine that looks white like water. Based on this, we can say that colorless urine like water could mean you're drinking too much water. Drinking excessive amounts of water dilutes some salts in our body and is not healthy. For young and healthy people, our sense of thirst determines how much water we drink. Forcing ourselves to drink too much water before we feel thirsty is not a good idea. Older people sometimes neglect to drink water, and because their kidneys are also aging, it's crucial for them to drink enough water.
These two colors, pale yellow or slightly dark yellow, are normal, healthy urine colors.
Don't be alarmed by dark, brownish urine. Dark urine can indicate insufficient water intake. When we sweat heavily, are physically exhausted, or after intense sports activities, urine darkens. Increasing our water intake returns to normal. Some plants and dishes made from them can color urine brown. Broad beans are a popular food. Don't be alarmed if your urine is dark the next day. Another plant that darkens urine is rhubarb, a sour-sweet plant that grows in the Malatya-Elazıg region. My peers will remember that when I was a child, there were people selling rhubarb on donkeys in the streets. We would buy it while playing, peel it, and eat it. The most important sign for all these urine samples is pink or red urine, as this indicates blood in the urine. Remember, eating blackberries or beets can also cause urine to turn pink or red, just as if it were blood. Blood in the urine is significant, and the source of the blood should be investigated. Blood in the urine indicates a condition causing bleeding in the kidneys, urethra, bladder, prostate, or bladder. For example, kidney stones or an infection may be present. Tumors in the kidney or bladder can also cause bleeding. A brownish, tea-colored urine can indicate liver disease. Those who have experienced jaundice know that the whites of their eyes turn yellow and their urine also turns tea-colored. This color change is caused by the impaired liver's inability to excrete certain salts excreted in bile through the stool. Dear viewers, if you experience a very abnormal urine color other than the colors I mentioned, it is most likely due to a dye added to a food you've consumed. Don't be alarmed by changes in urine color, but be sure to consult a doctor if you experience red or tea-colored urine.
