This case study takes us inside Torch Tabacaria in Ontario, Canada, where Ajax Systems has been protecting not only security but also the unique environment required for cigar preservation. Nearly three years ago, security installer Bowles Built In Systems, led by Jeff Bowles, deployed an Ajax Hub along with core intrusion devices and the Ajax LifeQuality sensor. For a cigar shop, monitoring CO₂, temperature, and humidity is as important as securing the doors, and this ecosystem has already proven its value multiple times by preventing spoilage, avoiding false alarms, and stopping a burglary attempt.
In this new update, we visit the site to show how the system has evolved with Ajax’s latest releases. The installation now includes AI-powered 5MP cameras for advanced monitoring and a Yale Smart Lock, demonstrating how Ajax extends beyond traditional alarm systems into a unified platform that merges security, automation, and environmental control.
Key takeaways:
▪ Environmental monitoring with Ajax LifeQuality (CO₂, temperature, humidity)
▪ Perimeter protection via Ajax Hub 2 Plus, wireless contacts (DoorProtect Plus Jeweller), motion sensor with camera ( MotionCam Jeweller), and sirens (StreetSiren and HomeSiren)
▪ Panic button integration for staff safety
▪ AI-enabled 5MP cameras (TurretCam (5 Mp/2.8 mm)) with IR for day-and-night video analytics
▪ Yale Assure Lock® 2 for remote management and automatic arming
▪ Real-world incidents where Ajax prevented cigar loss, false dispatches, and burglary attempts
This is more than a showcase of new devices. It’s a close look at how a single ecosystem can protect a specialized retail business, integrate smart access control, and adapt to real-world challenges over time. Watch through to the end so you don’t miss important details that can save you time and protect your own projects.
