In one of Shanghai’s central business districts, you can find the ancient Jing'an Temple from the 13th century. It belongs to the most famous Buddhist temples in the city. The complex was reconstructed after a devastating fire in early 1972, and in 1990 the whole temple was finally opened to the public. Here you can experience the authentic atmosphere of ancient architecture and religious rituals. There is the largest sitting jade Buddha statue in China. It is 3.78-metre high with an incredible weight of 11,000 kilograms.
