A biographical film about the legendary pilot Valery Chkalov, a Hero of the Soviet Union. Brigade Commander Chkalov developed a number of new aerobatic maneuvers. In 1936-37, he made nonstop flights from Moscow to Udd Island (Far East) and from Moscow to the North Pole and Vancouver (USA).
Valery Chkalov made his daring flyover under the Trinity Bridge in Leningrad. This flight was repeated (six times) by pilot Yevgeny Borisenko in an Sh-2 seaplane in 1940 for the film. Valery Chkalov finds flying without imagination boring – turns, loops, playful flights under bridges. Fired for such pranks, he becomes a legendary pilot, a test pilot for the first fighter aircraft...
