If you're looking to move off of Oracle's database offerings and you're worried that you won't have encryption then this new story should be of interest to you. EDB announced this week that they have released transparent data encryption for PostgreSQL. This block-level encryption offering allows databases to be encrypted before they're written to disk to ensure the data is secure at all times. Integration with public cloud key management systems ensures only authorized users and applications can see the database files. Tom, what's the ultimate goal for offering encryption for Postgres?
