A year and a half with the Steam Deck OLED - and here's an honest conversation without rose-colored glasses.
This isn't a tech review with tables and FPS measurements, but the experience of someone who actually lives with this portable device - the top-end 1TB version with a matte OLED screen, games from indie to big titles, emulators, SteamOS, Proton, sleep mode, saves, anti-cheats, and all those PC hacks that are usually shamefully kept quiet.
At one point, the Steam Deck seemed like that "new Switch, but more powerful" to me. And yes, it really does a lot of cool things. An OLED screen, touchpads, a gyroscope, custom control layouts, a huge Steam library, emulation of almost everything. But the more you use it, the more you realize the main thing: the Steam Deck is not a console. It's a Linux PC. With all the pros, cons, and unexpected surprises.
