[EP 1] Tutor Interview - Mary McCarthy
Mary has been tutoring in English subjects for around nine months now and has recently joined the Triumph team to expand her client base.
Her best moment as a tutor, Mary describes as finishing a session and having one of her student's families invite her to have dinner with them, which perfectly exhibits the real human connection that is able to be developed within our line of work.
Mary's strongest quality is her ability to get students talking and finding trust in her, this lends itself to quickly being able to zero in on students specific weaknesses, which of course makes it much easier for her to help them improve.
Finally Mary's biggest tip to other tutors is to encourage open, honest communication. Much of our time as tutors can be spent trying to figure out the gaps in our students' knowledge, if a student feels comfortable sharing their weaknesses and struggles with you, it allows you to quickly and effectively help them.
