Special Case (2000 film)
The film takes place during the Chechen conflict. American television journalist Diana Jackson secured an interview with Amir, a leader of a militant group long hunted by Russian intelligence agencies. Once in Russia, she hired Nikolai, a Russian cameraman, to accompany her on this trip. FSB agents persuaded him to help them locate Amir. To do this, they gave Nikolai a jacket with a special radio beacon sewn into it. Upon arrival in the mountains, one of Amir's men appropriated the jacket, and Nikolai was no longer able to press the secret button. At the camp, Diana and Nick began their journalistic work, but Amir began to grow suspicious of the Russian cameraman. After the interview, he suggested that Diana leave, leaving Nikolai with the gang. But when she refused, Amir decided to stage a duel among the bandits, making Diana the prize for the winner. Nikolai decides to join the battle, declaring that if he wins, they should be released. They allow him to do so, hoping for his death. But ultimately, he manages to win. True to his promise, Amir lets them go, but orders his man, who was supposed to drive them, to kill them on the way. Nikolai and Diana will subsequently have to fight against the militants for their freedom and lives.
