Understanding and Utilizing Advanced Threat Protection ATP in Office 365 1
In this video, we dive deep into the intricacies of Microsoft's Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) and its pivotal role in fortifying email security within the Office 365 environment. We clarify that ATP, in this context, refers to Office 365 ATP, a pivotal tool in combating email phishing threats.
The video illuminates how ATP operates through two primary mechanisms - Safe Attachments and Safe Links. The former executes every incoming email attachment in a secure, sandboxed environment, inspecting for any malicious content such as malware-laced macros. If such content is detected, ATP prevents the attachment from being delivered, reducing the risk of a security breach.
As we proceed, the video details how to activate Safe Attachments in ATP, also highlighting that ATP extends beyond emails to protect SharePoint, OneDrive, and Microsoft Teams. When an unsuspecting user clicks on a malicious link, ATP intervenes, displaying a warning and preventing the user from proceeding further.
