Lesson 48: Learn how to use Cisco Packet Tracer Software
Welcome back to Free CCNA Course Online. In this video, you will understand how to use the CISCO Packet Tracer. First of all, you should be clear with the devices which you are going to use in the software that is given below:
Computers or Server
Switches
Routers
Cables
How to select Computers
To select the computers, click on the ‘End Devices’ button and you will get all the end devices available. Click on the first ‘Generic End Device’ and then click on the white area on your computer’s screen and you will get the Device start showing there.
How to select Server?
Now, on the bottom left side of your computer’s screen, you’ll find a Server-PT, click on it and then click on the white area on your computer’s screen and you will get the Server to start showing there.
How to connect Device to the Server?
To connect the computer(Device) to the Server, there is an option called ‘Connections’, so just click on the ‘Connections’ and there you will find a first option called ‘Automatically choose connection type’, just click on it and then click on the ‘Device’ then click on the ‘Server’ then you’ll see the Device and the Server are now connected.
How to connect Device, Switch, & Router among themselves?
Follow the simple steps given below:
Step 1: First, take a Computer/Device then take a Switch and then take a Router (First Generic Router).
Step 2: Click on the ‘Connections’ and select the first option ‘Automatically choose connection type’.
Step 3: Click on Computer/Device and then click on Switch to connect the computer with Switch.
Step 4: To connect the Switch to the Router, again, you have to click on ‘Connection’ and select the first option.
Step 5: Click on the Switch and then click on the Router to connect the Computer/Device, Switch and Router among themselves.
In the above scenario where you have learned that how connected Device, switch, and Router among themselves, a problem occurs that we have to select the ‘Connection’ option two times and to overcome this problem, follow the steps given below:
Step 1: First, take a Computer/Device, then take a Switch and then take a Router (First Generic Router).
Step 2: First, click on the ‘Connections’ option and then hold the ‘Ctrl’ key and click on the first option ‘Automatically choose connection type’. Then directly, without releasing the ‘Ctrl’ key, click on the Computer/Device, Switch, and Router one by one, and there you go, the connection has now been established.
