On May 14, the U.S. Justice Department announced that Boeing Co. breached its obligations under a 2021 deferred prosecution agreement (DPA) related to the fatal 737 MAX crashes in 2018 and 2019, which killed 346 people. The DOJ stated that Boeing failed to implement an adequate compliance and ethics program to prevent fraud. The department has given Boeing until June 13 to explain the breach and will decide by July 7 whether to prosecute. This follows the 2021 agreement where Boeing paid $2.5 billion to resolve a criminal investigation and agreed to improve compliance practices. The DOJ is now reviewing a recent incident involving a Boeing 737 MAX 9 jet as part of its broader investigation. Families of the crash victims, represented by lawyer Paul G. Cassell, view the DOJ's announcement as a positive step but seek further action to hold Boeing accountable. #Boeing #737MAX #DOJ #AviationSafety #Compliance #Ethics #LegalNews #AircraftCrashes #DeferredProsecutionAgreement #AviationLaw #CorporateAccountability #JusticeForVictims #AirlineSafety #FederalInvestigation #Boeing737MAXCrashes #LegalAction #USLaw #CorporateEthics #FraudPrevention #VictimsRights
