Can steroid be used on the face for facial eczema (atopic dermatitis)? It is safer to use mild steroid creams like hydrocortisone 0.1% and for not more than 7 days due to side effects of eczema treatment such as skin atrophy and hypopigmentation.
Alternative to steroid creams include tacrolimus which can be used for longer periods for treating eczema on the face but consider the small risk of skin cancer, and so if you are someone with previous history of skin cancer, then you should seek medical advice.
