Jerusalem is one of the oldest cities in the world and home to Jews, Christians, and Muslims. This holy city is steeped in ancient history and significant landmarks.
The heart of Jerusalem, the Old City, is surrounded by fortified walls and divided into Jewish, Christian, Muslim, and Armenian quarters. Jerusalem is home to numerous historical, archaeological, and spiritual sites. This most important site for Jews is what remains of the ancient Holy Temple, built nearly two thousand years ago. The wall was an outer wall, fortifying the Temple Mount, where the Holy Temple stood until its destruction. Throughout history, and even today, Jews from all over the world flock here to pray and place notes in the crevices between the stones.
