Hindsight Is/ 2021 KU Art History Graduate Student Symposium - Day 3
Welcome today’s session of Hindsight Is/ 2021 KU Art History Graduate Student Symposium. As art historians, we train our eyes to make new discoveries about our present moment by looking to the past. With this symposium, we hope to explore how history shapes us and the art we create and how we in turn shape history. We would like to question what is history and who defines it? How should we negotiate the discrepancies between cultural memory and documented history? How do artists reflect upon their own times or on the past?
Our symposium will take place in three sessions over the course of three consecutive days. Each session will be broadcast live on this YouTube page from 7 pm to 9 pm CST. Each session will end with a panel style Question and answer period with that day’s presenters. While the presenters are speaking, we encourage you to type any questions you have in the chat for the livestream. Moderators from the KU Art History Department will ask questions on your behalf to the speakers.
