Putin has deployed an economic nuclear weapon in the escalating conflict surrounding Ukraine. In an unprecedented move, Russia has halted all exports to the West. After China, the Netherlands is Russia's largest trading partner, and the consequences are particularly severe for the Netherlands. However, a large part of the economy depends on Russia's oil and gas. The EU and the US are now embroiled in a 'full-scale' economic war, even though these economies are already teetering on the brink of collapse due to years of political mismanagement. Gasoline, energy, bread—everything was already booming, and things are not exactly getting better now. But those who place the blame for all this primarily on Putin have dutifully followed the propaganda but failed to pay close attention.
