Build your own fully functional ESP32-based NES Emulator!

In this video, I share how to turn an ESP32-S3 development board into a playable retro gaming console. While it's not 100% perfect yet, you can easily load and play your favorite classic games right from an SD card.

🛠️ Hardware Used:

ESP32-S3 Development Board (16MB Flash, 8MB PSRAM)
1.69 inch 280x240 ST7789 TFT Display
Micro SD Card & Reader
8x Tactile Pushbuttons & Prototype Board
Optional: MAX98357A I2S audio amplifier and Speaker

💻 Project Highlights & Software Notes:

Custom Display Driver: I wrote a custom driver for the TFT display, so you don't need to install external TFT libraries.

Games Setup: Make sure your SD card is formatted to FAT32 and your game files end in .nes. Keep the filenames short so they look clean on the menu!

Sound: Audio is currently disabled in the config file (set to '0') because it causes lag, but I am actively working on a fix.

Software Versions: Built using Arduino IDE version 2.3.7 and ESP32 boards version 3.3.7. This project is a heavily upgraded fork of the esp32-nofrendo library.
