Hi Guys!
Recently I replaced the nozzle on the Artillery 3D SW-X1 because I believed that it had worn out due to printing glow in the dark PLA for about 34 hours straight.
Well, after replacing the nozzle I kept having layer lines I couldn't explain. I tried every trick in the book to correct the problem. Finally it came down to 1 thing that I had done different for this print. When printing the Moon City I wanted the best detail possible. So I sliced it at 0,1mm layer height.
In passing one day Calvin told me that the Volcano Hot End is designed for moving more plastic and not meant for more precise print jobs, ie 0.1mm layer height. I blew him off and continued troubleshooting.
I was so wrong!!!
Turns out that on the Volcano Hot End, printing at 0.1 layer height will cause the lines that I was experiencing. So in reality I had replaced my nozzle for no good reason.
Am I sorry I replaced my stock nozzle with a Micro Swiss nozzle? NO!!! Because in the long run I will have less clogs and have more accurate prints over time because of the wear resistance and lubricity of this plated nozzle.
Am I sorry I didn't listen to Calvin sooner? Kinda, but I had to lean it on my own. But special thanks to Calvin for not saying "told you so". LOL!!!
Thank you very much for watching!!!
