Shiraz City Iran - Iran Travel / ایران اینترنشنال 🇮🇷
In the 12th episode of Paths Less Traveled - Iran (ایران), I’m spending a second full day exploring the amazing city of Shiraz (شيراز) - The city of poets, literature and flowers.
We’ll see some more of the obvious tourist sites that we missed the first time round, get off the beaten track in more local parts and off course eat some more delicious local food!
We’ll start the day with a visit to Eram Garden (باغ ارم), a beautiful Persian garden from the 18th century on the UNISCO list that we missed on the first day due to protests in the area.
After that it’s back to the center to re-visit the Vakil Bazaar (بازار وکیل) during a busier time of day and wander around a little more thoroughly taking in the local life.
For lunch we’ll visit Zarnegar Traditional House - a small and charming restaurant, to try Kalam Polo Shirazi. This is a traditional Shiraz Dish of Meatballs, Cabbage & Rice and I’ll try this along with an amazing drink of saffron and rosewater.
After lunch and meeting up with a couple of other travellers that I met during the trip across Iran, we’ll head off the beaten track (if there is such a thing in Iran!) to the local food market, Darvazeh Kazeroon (دروازه کازرون).
Then it’s off to the beautiful Ali e bne Hamzeh Holy Shrine (مرقد علی ابن حمزه) before visiting the Tomb of Saadi Shirazi (آرامگاه سعدی), another famous Iranian poet from Shiraz.
As the sun starts to set, we’ll finish the day at the Quran Gate (دروازه قرآن), a picturesque historic gate on a landscaped park area.
Another amazing day!

PATHS LESS TRAVELED
In the late summer of 2022 I embarked on an epic road trip around Iran, during a time of unrest as protests escalated across the country.
Covering around 6200km over 24 days, I was able to see this incredible country in a way that many are not fortunate enough to see, and to record my experiences in a way that has not been done before.
Safety concerns meant that I had to limit my filming on occasion, and stay well away from any signs of the troubles going on.
However, what I did see was an incredible insight. Some of the most wonderful and welcoming people, incredible history and culture, and mind blowing food.
