In this video, I give suggestions about the priorities to have when gathering starting loot when you start your Project Zomboid playthrough! Keep in mind that there are 3 major categories that are important to gather, weapons, equipment, and food & drinks.
Of course, there are also other important things to gather such as beginner skill books. However, as they are not required for survival, they aren't your priority number 1.
