So your computer is slow and you are looking for ways to make it fast again or return it to its nippy previous state, there are two main points that you have to consider before you can fix your slow computer and they are:

Number one - How old is your computer system and the main component you have to be concerned with is the C: Drive or also called the hard drive?

Number two - Have you got proper maintenance plan setup on your computer and is it working correctly?

One of these problems alone is bad enough, but the two problems combined cause a major headache for you.

So the first thing you have to do is figure out how old your computer is?

The reason you have to do this first is because the number one reason a computer slows down is the age of the computer and more accurately put the "C drive" age. Local disk C: in your computer is your hard drive and this is either a disk drive or a solid state drive.

If your hard drive is a {Disk drive} and it's over 3 years old then you should replace it, it owns you nothing because it's been working for you at 7200RPM for three years+ that's a lot of disk spinning and read/write head movement...

If you have a disk drive, then it starts to slow down gradually, anything from just a few short months old to 3 years+.

There is no hard evidence to suggest how long before a disk drive starts to slow down or deteriorate, but if you have a good maintenance plan setup on your computer and it's working correctly, then there is just one reason your PC is slowing down "hardware"

And the component that is the most vulnerable is a disk drive because of the nature of the component, which have two main moving parts the disk itself and the read/write heads, both are constantly moving extremely fast, so it's bound to give trouble at some stage.

But "when" is a very difficult question to answer with any degree of accuracy. And that's why, if you have a proper maintenance plan setup on your computer, you know that the problem is more than likely the hard drive.

The second thing you must sort out is maintaining your computer

This is all fine if you have proper maintenance set up on your computer, so that is the second thing that you must get sorted. This is the only way to keep a computer in tip top condition and then when it does slow down, it's an easy fix because you know the computer is kept in good condition, then the obvious problem is hardware "mainly the hard drive".

Proper maintenance will prevent all common problems that screw with your head day after day like:
slow to open software
slow to save stuff
slow to copy stuff
computer slow to start
programs popping up and starting you didn't open
error messages that mean nothing to you, which you probably just close cause you don't know what the hell that's all about
generally sluggish performance

You can easily sort out all these annoyances that drive you nuts for months hell, even years, by checking to see if you have these 12 very important tools setup on your computer, which by the way are all installed on your computer already all you have to do is set them up correctly.
