🌠 Many people know that the Solar System contains the asteroid belt and the Kuiper belt. But not everyone has heard of the scattered disk and the Oort cloud. These regions are very extensive and occupy a significant portion of the Solar System. Furthermore, it is from there that icy visitors – comets – arrive.
In this lecture, we will discuss both the asteroid belt and the Oort cloud, as well as Jan Oort himself, after whom the cloud is named, how he was able to create a model of the Oort cloud, and why he studied the motion of stars in galaxies, and why an object consisting of a huge number of cometary nuclei bears his name.

The "Nauchka" Popular Science Library is an educational project created and operating in the very center of Moscow since December 2014 (State Budgetary Cultural Institution of Moscow, OKTs CAO TsDB 14 "Nauchka").

Vitaly Egorov, a popularizer of cosmonautics and author of books and articles; anthropologist and bestselling author Stanislav Drobyshevsky; and other remarkable popularizers of science.
At the library, you can not only borrow a book or attend a popular science event, but also work on your own project (there is a coworking area).
