Ubuntu MATE 14.10 was a version of the Ubuntu MATE operating system, which was an official derivative of Ubuntu. Released in October 2014, Ubuntu MATE 14.10 was based on Ubuntu 14.10 (Utopic Unicorn) and featured the MATE desktop environment as its default user interface. Ubuntu MATE 14.10 featured the MATE desktop environment, which is a continuation of the GNOME 2 desktop environment. MATE provides a traditional desktop experience with a familiar layout, including a panel, application menu, system tray, and workspace switcher. MATE allows users to customize various aspects of the desktop environment, including themes, icons, and window decorations. Users can choose from a variety of pre-installed themes and icon sets, or download additional themes and customization options from the MATE community. Ubuntu MATE 14.10 had moderate system requirements, making it suitable for most modern computers. The system recommended at least 1GB of RAM, a 1GHz processor, and 10GB of available hard disk space for installation.
