Specialists from the Office of Rospotrebnadzor in the Tyumen Region are conducting an epidemiological investigation. The reason for this was the hospitalization of two patients - members of one family from the village of Achiry in the Tobolsk District - in the first regional hospital. They were diagnosed with "Gaff disease". Another member of this family is in the hospital in Tobolsk. Presumably, the cause of the disease is the consumption of fish that they caught themselves. Gaff disease is an acute disease that occurs mainly among predatory fish.
Ksenia Stepanova, head of the clinical department of the Research Institute of Regional Infectious Pathology, associate professor of the infectious diseases department of the TSMU: "It is not transmitted from person to person. Muscle tissue is primarily affected, but if you do not seek medical help in time, the liver can be affected - like hepatitis, the kidneys - like nephritis, with the development of renal failure. Of course, the disease is quite amenable to symptomatic and pathogenetic treatment." http://www.youtube.com/user/TyumenTim...
