Discord is about to change forever, and most users haven’t even realized it yet.
Starting in March 2026, Discord will roll out a global age verification system that defaults every account to a teen-appropriate experience unless you prove you’re an adult. To regain full access — including age-restricted servers, certain voice channels, and unblurred sensitive content — users may need to submit a face scan or government ID.

That means anonymity and friction-free chatting for many could be gone, replaced by biometric checks and identity upload prompts all in the name of safety, but raising huge privacy and trust concerns, especially after past data breaches involving user ID information.
