In this free Excel video lesson, we'll learn how to create a pricing spreadsheet in Excel to help us create a final product that uses several other products.
We can price sweets, cakes, confectionery, kits, basic food baskets, equipment, services that use products and materials, etc.
The Excel spreadsheet has two tabs and two Excel tables.
The first tab contains the records of all the products we'll use in pricing. We'll record information such as the product name, the unit of measurement, the quantity included in the package, the total price paid for the package, and the update date.
In the second Excel table, we'll have the pricing of the final product itself. We'll give the final product a name, for example, chocolate cake, service 123, etc. And we'll have several blocks so we can register each specific product we'll use in the pricing.
Furthermore, we'll use several important and useful Excel tools and features to help us automate tasks and save time in our daily work.
The first tool we'll use is the table format. The table has the excellent benefit of automatically copying all formulas, formatting, and layout used whenever you insert new rows with new information.
This makes it easier to enter new data.
We'll also use a list of options or data validation: a list of items, a checkbox, an item box, a cell with options, etc.
We'll use the VLOOKUP function or VLOOKUP formula. This Excel search formula helps us return information based on the searched value. For example, based on the product name selected from the list of options, Excel automatically returns the corresponding price, unit of measurement, etc.
And the last formula we'll use is the aggregate formula instead of the sum function in Excel. The aggregate function can help us add cells even if they contain errors or hidden information.
