Dance teachers usually say, “DON’T USE YOUR HIP FLEXORS!” How many times have you heard this in class? For most of us… it’s a lot. But is that really the best advice for all dancers? Not necessarily… watch this whole video to see me explain why.
The truth is that your individual anatomy is different from other dancers and there could be other things going on that are preventing your legs from getting into the tilt position. So if you’ve been working on this skill and struggling no matter how hard you try… don’t give up! Just take a different approach.
And… your hip flexors really *should* be working 😉 You wouldn't be able to lift your leg to the front if the hip flexors weren't contracting!
