DID (Direct Inward Dialing) is a virtual number of an ISDN or SIP trunk, also known as #DID number. It allows outside users to reach a certain destination of a company or organization directly, with no need for a receptionist or IVR.
DID numbers are provided by the trunk provider and one trunk can hold multiple DID numbers. So, companies or organizations don’t need to deploy more lines for more DID numbers to different departments. One trunk will be enough.
The DID feature helps to guide callers to different destinations of a company or organization directly.
