The Neato Robotics Botvac D7 Connected is the latest product from the Neato brand. For once, I'm testing a robot vacuum from an American brand. For me, it's a chance to gain some insight into high-end products other than those from China.
The laser rangefinder is probably the Neato D7 Connected's biggest advancement. This represents a drastic change in the robot's navigation and room mapping system.
Now, the robot can not only tell you what work has been done, but you can also ask it not to go to certain areas. The virtual wall system has now been replaced by an app. Connecting to the app is quick and easy.
The robot's suction power is, to say the least, efficient. It passed all my tests without a hitch. It even performed better than most of the robots I've tested so far.
However, we would have liked the app to be more developed, particularly for selecting areas to clean inside the house instead of just excluding them.
It's also a shame not to have a mop. Robot vacuum cleaners with floor washers are all the rage. Mops allow for the pickup of finer particles.
The Neato D7 Connected is quite expensive. Our review shows that it boasts good suction power and some interesting technological advancements. It also comes with a warranty that's readily available in many stores. However, we would have liked it to be a little more comprehensive to give it a leg up on the competition.
