How to tighten the steering rack on a Kia Cerato
Hello everyone.
Problem:
-There's an unpleasant knocking noise in the suspension.
We need to tighten the steering rack. For this, we'll need:
-Hammer
-Chisel
19mm Allen wrench
If you don't have this wrench, or yours simply won't fit between the subframe and the stabilizer bar, you can make one yourself very quickly and easily!!
To do this, take a regular bolt of the required length. (The bolt must be a 19mm wrench!!!!)
-Take two nuts and screw them onto the threads.
-Tighten these two nuts together (locking).
After this, our loosening tool is ready!!
-Insert our wrench into the 6mm Allen wrench hole.
Use a chisel to knock off the lock nut. Then tighten the Allen wrench. Tighten it just a little bit!!! It's best to do this job with two people. One person turns the steering wheel, the other tightens the Allen key on the steering rack.
The most important thing here is not to overtighten the rack, otherwise the steering wheel won't return to its original position!
After tightening the rack, tighten the lock nut back down.
It's easiest to do this from the left side of the wheel, which will need to be removed!
