A central theme of the Summit for Democracy process is that inclusive democracies—ones that respect the human rights of all marginalized communities—deliver important dividends for their citizens. With anti-gender and anti-LGBTQI+ movements surging within broader anti-democratic currents around the world, greater focus is needed on how the United States and other concerned actors can push back against such movements and advance the goal of inclusive democracy globally.
