Remix runs Android apps but does so in a desktop environment. It supports overlapping windows - even with Android apps - as well as a functional desktop, start menu, and other features found on regular desktop operating systems.
It runs quite nicely - certainly better on at the moment on faster machines running with i5 or i7 processors, but it ran well enough even on a slower Broadwell Celeron based mini PC. I would not recommend running it on an Atom machine at the moment but Jide promises very frequent updates over the next several weeks and months.

You’ll need a USB 3.0 storage device of some kind as well as a PC that supports booting in legacy mode in its BIOS. Some PCs do not support legacy mode and therefore will not be compatible.
Note that the Google Play store is not currently included with the Alpha release. It is possible to side load apps as I demonstrated in the video. There are ways to get the Google services on installations like this that I might cover in a future video.
