Pillars of Eternity - The Ultimate Run - Cipher - Part 1
Cipher looks good on paper, but he has issues the other three caster classes don't have - he needs to damage enemies to be able to cast stuff and most of his spells are just not worth it.
I went for a blunderbuss / firebrand cipher. Blunderbuss is only bad against high DR enemies, firebrand helps out as long as the enemy is not immune to fire as well.
Maybe a melee cipher with shield would be better, at least it would be sturdier, but the damage you would have dealt is way lower and your focus gain will be as well.
It's definitely the hardest class for a solo run so far. Many of his spells are made for party play. He is really dependend on scrolls, unless you want to lure enemies one by one all the time.
His whispers would be awesome if it could be casted outside of combat like the paralyze spell and with a higher range. But there is still a bug, that just releases the enemy from their charm effect much sooner than it should and i could not figure out why.
