Traffic Light Simulation using PLC Fiddle | Ladder Logic | PLC Basics
In this video, I explain what a PLC is, what ladder programming is, and demonstrate a simple traffic light simulation using PLC Fiddle. The traffic light logic is implemented using ladder logic and on-delay timers.
Methodology: Traffic Light Simulation using PLC Fiddle
1. PLC Fiddle was opened to design and simulate ladder logic without using physical PLC hardware.
2. Input, output, timer, and numeric constant variables were defined for the traffic light system.
3. A start–stop control circuit was created using ladder logic to enable the system operation.
4. A single ON-delay timer was used to control the total traffic light cycle time.
5. The accumulator value of the timer was compared with predefined constants to control Red, Yellow, and Green lights.
6. The timer was reset using its done bit to ensure continuous looping of the traffic light sequence.
7. The ladder logic was tested by observing timer accumulation and correct switching of traffic lights.
