In this video, I share how I use input booleans in my Home Assistant setup to create virtual switches that allow me to use Amazon Alexa voice control to trigger scripts and actions in my Smart Home. One input boolean I use quite often is Guest Mode, which puts the house into a less aggressive automative state when the immediate family is not home but other people are, such as guests or babysitters. Without enabling Guest Mode, lights would start shutting down, the alarm would set, and we would start getting all sorts of movement alerts from the house. To ensure that Guest Mode is enabled before leaving, I added an audio confirmation feature. This video is for anyone looking to improve their Smart Home setup using input booleans and automations in Home Assistant.

👋 About this channel: My name is Carlo. I've been running Home Assistant for a BUNCH of years. Almost from the very beginning actually. This channel is focused on bringing what I have implemented at my own house to you so that you can bring it to your house. The channel will be a mix of reviews, tutorials, and inspiration. It is a companion to my GitHub site that holds all the code for my Smart Home and my main site where I keep the more in-depth technical writings. I hope you will enjoy the videos and consider subscribing.
