Welcome to Session 8 of the Online Embedded Systems Internship 2026. In this session of the "Build Real-time EV Dashboard & ADAS Warning System" project, we build the complete HC-SR04 Ultrasonic Sensor Driver from scratch — the core component that gives our ADAS system the ability to detect obstacles around the vehicle in real time.

By the end of this session your EV will have eyes — three ultrasonic sensors
reading distance simultaneously and feeding live data into the ADAS warning pipeline.

🔧 Learning Topics:
Configure TIM2 as a 1 MHz free-running counter for microsecond measurement
Wire HC-SR04 sensors in PICSimLab (TRIG: PB0/PB2/PB4, ECHO: PB1/PB3/PB5)
Implement HCSR04_Init(), HCSR04_Read(), HCSR04_ReadAll() driver functions
Understand 10 µs TRIG pulse and ECHO pulse-width measurement
Apply distance formula: Distance (cm) = (pulse_us × 0.0343) / 2
Clamp result to [2.0, 400.0] cm and handle 30 ms echo timeout

✅ Deliverables:
ultrasonic.c / .h driver implemented and compiling
Single HC-SR04 reading distance correctly in PICSimLab
HCSR04_ReadAll() triggering all 3 sensors sequentially
