Demo of a database migration from SQL Server to SQL MI with Azure SQL Managed Instance link feature
In this video we will demo how you can use MI link via SSMS to migrate a database from SQL Server to Azure SQL Managed Instance. For database replication and migration purposes, SQL MI link feature can be used with SQL Server 2016, 2019 and 2022, and Update policy on Azure SQL Managed Instance can be both "Always up to date" or "SQL Server 2022". To migrate a database, create MI link from SQL Server to Azure SQL Managed Instance and wait for data to be replicated. Once that is done, perform MI link failover and drop the MI link. After this, you will have read-write database in Azure SQL Managed Instance.
