Ceiling Microphone Mute Fix in Q-SYS | Shure Mic LED Green Issue
In this AV Fix episode, we look at a very common issue in conference room AV systems where the ceiling microphone LED remains green even when the room is muted from the touch panel. This usually happens in setups using Shure ceiling microphones with Q-SYS and Zoom Room or MPR touch panels.
Many AV engineers encounter this scenario in boardrooms where users press the mute button on the touch panel but the ceiling mic still shows a green LED. This can be confusing for meeting participants because the room appears muted on the controller but the microphone indicator suggests it is still active.
In this video we demonstrate a simple and quick ceiling microphone mute fix using Q-SYS Designer. The issue occurs when the MPR mute state is not synced properly with the Shure microphone plugin. By adding the Shure plugin and wiring the HID conferencing logic correctly, the ceiling mic LED will automatically follow the mute state from the touch panel.
Once the configuration is complete, pressing mute on the touch panel will change the microphone LED to red, and unmuting will return it to green. This simple configuration makes the room behavior much clearer and improves the overall user experience in professional meeting spaces.
