In this video, we dive into the eerie world of horror game design by building one of the most iconic atmosphere tricks in the genre—flickering lights.
🔧 Part 1:
I’ll walk you step-by-step through creating a flickering light effect in Unreal Engine 5, using a Light Function Material and Blueprint nodes to simulate that classic unstable light feel found in abandoned or haunted environments.
🏗 Part 2:
After the tutorial, enjoy a time-lapse level design session where I block out an abandoned warehouse/storefront using basic geometries and static meshes. Once the scene is ready, I place ceiling lights and apply the flickering effect to bring the environment to life with a creepy, cinematic atmosphere.
Whether you're a beginner in Unreal Engine, an indie developer, or a horror game enthusiast, this tutorial will help elevate your lighting and level design.
