1. Web Page
A web page is a special document. It is created using coding. We use web browsers like Google Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Microsoft Edge, etc. to see a web page.
2. Website
A website is a collection of web pages grouped together and web pages are interlinked with each other.
For example, Allama Open University's website is made up of several pages. Some of them are;
Homepage
Ph.D. Programs Page
Academic Calendar Page
Downloads Page
3. Domain Name
A domain name or web address is a particular address that users use to get access to the website.
Commonly it is known as URL (uniform resource locator).
Examples;
google.com
bing.com
amazon.com
daraz.com
aiou.edu.pk
A Domain name is a unique address. It means, two websites can’t have the same address. One domain name can be registered once on the internet.
We can register our web address or domain name from the domain registrar companies like Namecheap, GoDaddy, etc.
4. Web Server
A web server is a hosting computer that is connected to the internet 24/7.
Any type of website can be hosted/stored on a web server. Users from all over the world can get access to these websites.
Web Hosting Companies provide the facility of web hosting.
Hostinger, Bluehost, SiteGround, Kinsta, digital ocean, etc are popular web hosting companies.
5. Web Browser
A web browser is software used to access and display any website.
The purpose of a web browser is to fetch content from the web or from a local storage device and display it on a user’s device.
We can install web browsers on our desktop computers, laptops, tablets, and smartphones.
Google Chrome, Firefox, Opera, and Microsoft Edge are the most popular web browsers. Safari is a dedicated web browser for Apple Devices.
6. Search Engine
A search engine is a complicated website hosted on a special server. It is used to search any information, web page, or website on the world wide web.
Search Engines cannot be installed on any device because these are also websites.
We can access search engines from any web browser. We can also set one default search engine for Google Chrome, Firefox, or any other web browser.
google.com, bing.com, yandex.com, baidu.com, and duckduckgo.com are examples of search engines.
