Hello fine travellers! are you looking for a way down from that vantage point you've just scouted? maybe a little help getting down from that cliff side? well no need to fear! the conniving hyena is here! Make sure you bend over at the very edge point of a ledge and/or cliff, and you will be boosted down by the all too generous Patches! At no cost what so ever! First ones on the house though.
To start Patches quest, you need to have discovered the Cathedral of the Deep, and infiltrated the building from the outside. Head towards the Deacons of the Deep boss arena but, instead of going into the boss fog, head to the left and continue on until you meet an elevator.
Take the elevator up and you will see giant double doors. Open these doors, and you have officially granted access to the Cathedral of the Deep for anyone!
Turn around and head to your right, until you meet a peculiar Onion Knight. Speak with him, and follow the trust-worthy instructions he gives!
Once you get completely deceived and put into the face of danger by the Onion Knight, who reveals himself to be Patches, then you need to confront the ugly fucker and ask whatsup. Why did you do that. If you killed all the giants in the cathedral before triggering this cutscene, then he will spit a unique piece of dialogue as the bridge is lowering.
Take the route that you would take to Rosaria's Bed Chamber, but instead, when you meet your first Man-Grub, turn to the left and Patches will be standing there next to the lever that controls the bridge, from the other side of where he was standing when you first met him.
Exhaust his dialogue here, and you can either buy the Catarina set off him here, or leave it, depending on what path you want to take for Greirat or Seigward's quests. and whether or not you want to use Patches to save Greirat from Irithyll.
*In any case you have forgotten to start Patches quest and have already killed the Deacons of the Deep, then he jumps straight to the next step, in Firelink Shrine, leaving him to not be able to sell the Catarina set, or ask about Greirat for the rest of this playthrough.*
Go and buy the Tower Key off the Handmaid in Firelink shrine, and head straight up to the Firekeeper Tower. When you ascend the lift to the tower, you will notice on the way up, the gate shutting behind you.. Fuck.
Go back down and speak with Patches on the other side of the gate, snickering at you, and he will want you deaded by the fall to gravity on the way down. Little does he know you can just bone out or if you have the Silvercat Ring, this fall means nothing to you.
Once you've escaped his not so well thought out trap, then confront him at Firelink Shrine. He is located just before the Giant Tree, and just after the top stairs in Firelink Shrine, around the corner before you exit the shrine outside towards the Giant Tree.
Speak with him here, and if you do not forgive him for what he has done, he will give you a Rusted Gold Coin, and the "Prostration" gesture, if you do not have it already. Save and Quit, and engage Patches in his squatting state to receive the "Patches Squat" gesture.
IF YOU DID NOT BUY THE CATARINA SET OFF PATCHES, then progress Greirat's quest up until his Irithyll plunder, then send Greirat off his merry way to the township of moon worshipping nobles. After that speak with Patches and inform his as to Greirat's whereabouts.
Kill Pontiff Sulyvahn, and Greirat will be back at Firelink Shrine safe and sound. Not a single scratch on the little bastard! Perfect. This method does work and is not glitched! Im happy.
Discover Lothric Castle, and then send Greirat to plunder the area. Once that is done, tell Patches where Greirat scoured off to. Kill any boss, then go back to Firelink Shrine and Patches will be selling a Hidden Blessing.
