The collected eggs are evaluated by embryologists in the laboratory located in the adjacent room and prepared for conventional in vitro fertilization (IVF) or microinjection procedures. First, suitable eggs are selected for the procedure. In conventional in vitro fertilization (IVF), the selected eggs are stored in special media for 2–4 hours. The same day, sperm collected from the man is treated and washed using special methods. These sperm are then combined with the eggs, and the sperm are expected to penetrate the egg membrane and fertilize. Fertilization is checked 16–18 hours later.
