Vera is an only child, and her parents are wealthy. Therefore, they often spoil their daughter.
Vera begins an affair with Denis, for whom she drops out of medical school. After living together for a while, Denis leaves Vera.
Over time, Vera learns that before his affair with Vera, Denis was already married to Anna. Anna is now disabled and uses a wheelchair.
Vera and Anna develop a friendship, but Denis doesn't like this development.
