Now for a REAL test… Double Bowline VS Double Figure 8
The Figure of 8 Loop is a great knot, for making a loop at the end of your rope. It is commonly used in climbing and caving where the load is light or moderate. Keep in mind that it can be difficult to untie.
The Double Bowline is simply a regular Bowline with an extra wrap around the bight. It is more secure than the regular Bowline, and is still easy to untie after a big load.
Quick tip - Knots will always break first in our tests because knots weaken the strength of the rope, from the tension they give. Rope will always have a higher breaking strength without knots or splicing in it!
