Is proper video editing actually possible on Android in 2026? I've been trying to build a permanent editing setup using my Nikon Z6 and an external SSD, with the Samsung tab s11 ultra - and the results are frustrating.
In this video, I break down the current state of video editing software on Android. I primarily focus on LumaFusion, which I consider the "best of a bad bunch." While it is currently the only serious option that allows for direct editing from an external SSD (crucial for my workflow), it is plagued with bugs that kill the experience.
We cover the major issues I'm facing:
Playback stuttering when cutting footage.
Audio waveforms disappearing on clips over 4 minutes.
The dreaded "Missing Media" cross-hatch errors on older projects, even when files are connected.
I also take a quick look at the competition - CapCut, VN, Filmora, PowerDirector, and KineMaster -to show why they simply don't work for professional workflows that rely on external drives.
