Locky ransomware got its name originally because the files were encrypted and a .locky extension added at end of encrypted file. These files were encrypted with using RSA-2048 and AES-128 ciphers. But new variants are naming the extension differently like (.osiris, .Lukitus) but the underlying mechanism is same.
